Where a tooth is too broken, worn or heavily filled for a filling, a crown covers it and restores its strength and shape. We usually make it from monolithic zirconia, in a single, biocompatible piece.
Restoring teeth, made to last
When a tooth is broken, worn or lost, we restore the form, function and strength of the natural tooth. Every restoration is designed digitally, and we remove as little tooth structure as the case allows.
Fixed prosthodontics covers the restorations that stay permanently in the mouth — crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays, and restorations on implants. The aim is to return the tooth to its natural function, with a result that does not stand out.
Work begins with an intraoral scan rather than a conventional impression, and the design is done digitally. The fit and the bite are studied precisely before the restoration is made, so it seats more reliably on the tooth.
For most of our crowns and bridges we use monolithic zirconia: a high-strength ceramic milled from a single, solid block. It is durable, biologically compatible with the gums, and can be made to a natural appearance — and because it is strong, it lets us conserve more of the underlying tooth.

What this can involve
Bridges
Where one or more teeth are missing, a bridge spans the gap, supported by the neighbouring teeth or by implants. It is designed digitally so the fit and the bite are studied before it is made.
Inlays & onlays
For a tooth that has lost a large amount of structure but does not need a full crown, a ceramic inlay or onlay restores only the part that is missing. It is a more conservative option that preserves more healthy tooth.
Restorations on implants
The same digital workflow and the same materials extend to implants: a crown or bridge fitted over one or more implants, designed to sit in harmony with the surrounding natural teeth.
Restoring a worn bite
Where teeth have worn down across the mouth — from grinding, acid or time — we restore the height and the bite in a planned way, treating the whole arch together rather than one tooth at a time.
Materials & manufacture
Our zirconia comes from Vita, the German manufacturer whose dental ceramics have been a point of reference for decades. Cheaper, unbranded alternatives exist; we do not use them.
